Greenback weakens as equities recover



The US dollar weakened on Monday as equities markets in the US began to recover from last week’s declines and investors were willing to take more risks with their money.

The greenback dropped 0.4 percent versus the euro in late afternoon trade in New York to $1.3602 to the euro, while it fell 0.4 percent to SFr1.204 versus the Swiss franc and was 0.3 percent lower in relation to the Australian dollar to A$1.1701.

At the same time, the dollar traded at ¥119.08 in relation to the yen and at $2.025 against the pound.

The yen was also lower versus the euro, dropping 0.8 percent to ¥163.03.

Meanwhile, the Japanese currency traded at ¥241.1715 in relation to sterling.
