The US dollar was lower against many major currencies on Monday.
The euro was trading at $1.4200 versus the greenback in late New York trade, while the pound was at $2.0424 against the dollar and the yen was at ¥117.21 in relation to the US currency.
The UK currency was helped by new data from real-estate website Rightmove showing that house prices grew by 2.7 percent this month after dropping by 2.6 percent in September, a gain that was attributed to a rush to market by owners of three-bedroom homes before they must conform to new Home Information Pack requirements before they can sell their homes.
Meanwhile, the greenback traded at 97.03 Canadian cents versus the loonie and traded at SFr1.1803 against the Swiss franc.
