Pound Sterling makes gains against Euro and Dollar - GBP EUR, CAD, CNY, ILS, SGD and USD up 0.62% - 0.77%

The Pound Euro exchange rate GBP EUR is trading at 1.17098, up 0.64%. The Pound Dollar exchange rate GBP USD is trading at 1.57063, up 0.66%.
The Pound Australian Dollar exchange rate GBP AUD is trading at 1.52805, up 0.36%. The Pound New Zealand Dollar currency rate GBP NZD is trading at 2.01709, up 0.85%.
The Sterling Canadian Dollar rate GBP CAD is trading at 1.57468, up 0.77%.
The Pound Sterling has seen gains across all the major currencies today, most notably GBP CAD at 0.77%, GBP CNY at 0.69%, GBP EUR 0.66%, GBP ILS 0.57%, GBP NOK 0.62%, GBP SGD 0.77% and GBP USD 0.66%
The last few weeks have seen a strong Sterling compared to the Euro in particular as investors opted for UK gilts instead of the European government debts.
GBP EUR likely also made gains today, partly due to a German official playing down the idea to raise the combined lending limit of the temporary European Financial Stability Facility, thus reducing the likelyhood any success at the EU summit on friday.
Today's Sterling gains are despite UK house prices data showing a decline of 0.9% in November, and British industrial output falling more than predicted, showing further signs of a weakening UK economy.
British PM David Cameron came under pressure today regarding UK and the Euro crisis talks during Prime minister's questions (PMQs). He said he would fight for the UK's national interest in relation to any changes to the EU treaty proposed on friday.
