Pound Sterling Exchange Rate Falls after UK Jobs Data, GBP to EUR at One Month Worst Rate

The fundamentals are beginning to suggest that support for the POUND STERLING (currency : GBP) may have topped out in the near-term. Yesterday morning’s UK labour market data disappointed, revealing an increase in the total level of domestic joblessness to 1.85m during the three months to the end of June. A Bank of England interest rate hike now appears a long way off and economists forecast that the UK unit will trade with a NEUTRAL bias moving forward.

Euro Forecast: EUR Outlook VS USD, GBP Negative

The EURO (currency : EUR) has climbed against the Pound Sterling on the day in spite of some dark comments from former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis. The shaven-headed money man from Athens forecast that Tuesday’s bailout agreement between Greece and her creditors ‘is not going to work’. With Quantitative Easing continuing across the Eurozone, the outlook for the shared currency remains firmly NEGATIVE.

The Pound Sterling euro exchange rate stands at 1.3990.

The US DOLLAR (currency : USD) struggled to gain ground against any of the other sixteen most actively traded global currencies during yesterday’s session. The apparent pressing of the panic button from China’s policymakers has spooked the markets this week and investors are now factoring-in only a minority chance that the US Federal Reserve will be hiking its interest rate next month. Look out for tomorrow afternoon’s Michigan Sentiment Survey to provide the Buck with further direction; in the meantime, expect the US unit to trade on a NEUTRAL TO NEGATIVE footing.

The GBP USD exchange rate stands at 1.5640.

Currency NEWSFLASH: Swiss Franc Best Performing Currency

The SWISS FRANC (currency : CHF) was the best-performing of the major global currencies during yesterday’s trading day. Stock markets took a tumble, with London’s FTSE 100 giving up almost 1.5% of its value and the euroland’s bourses suffering even greater losses. The Franc gained at their expense, with investors choosing Franc-denominated assets as a safe haven for their funds. The forecast for the Franc is now NEUTRAL TO POSITIVE and the GBP CHF exchange rate stands at 1.5157.
