Currency News UK brings you today's pound sterling, euro, aus dollar and new zealand dollar exchange rate predictions, forecasts and conversion rates.

An improvement in global risk sentiment during today’s trading session has caused analysts to alter their forecast for the Pound Sterling (currency:GBP) against several of the world’s other leading including the euro (currency:EUR), US Dollar (currency:USD) and the New Zealand Dollar (currency:NZD).

pound sterling exchange rateThe POUND STERLING (currency:GBP) has changed hands within a relatively tight range against the other sixteen most actively traded global currencies on the day.

Tomorrow morning brings the publication of the latest UK Industrial and Manufacturing sector data – in recent months both of these readings have proved to be market-moving.

Meanwhile, Thursday’s Bank of England monetary policy announcement is also looming. The outlook for Sterling remains NEUTRAL TO POSITIVE.

The EURO (currency:EUR) suffered an early-week blow during this morning’s session when the latest Sentix survey showed that investor sentiment in the euroland had slumped to its lowest level since the early part of last year.

The single currency’s losses were limited by European Central Bank Chief Mario Draghi’s apparent reluctance to do ‘whatever it takes’ on monetary policy, but the forecast for the euro remains NEGATIVE.

The current GBP EUR exchange rate stands at 1.2740.

The US DOLLAR (currency:USD) has weakened on the day today.

Friday’s euphoria elicited by the best overall US employment data since 2008 has gradually worn off and investors have instead focussed on the Federal Reserve’s apparent reluctance to countenance an interest rate hike in spite of the rapid improvement in the domestic labour market.

Look out for the minutes of the most recent Fed policy meeting, due for publication on Wednesday, to offer the Buck further direction.

In the short term, expect the Greenback to put in a NEUTRAL performance in the markets. The current Pound Sterling US Dollar exchange rate stands at 1.6009.

The NEW ZEALAND DOLLAR (currency:NZD) has put in a ‘steady eddy’ performance in the global currency markets today.

Kiwi-holders will be relieved to see the gradual improvement in the New Zealand unit’s value following Reserve Bank of New Zealand Governor Graeme Wheeler’s jawboning of his local tender during the latter stages of last month.

The RBNZ still craves a weaker Kiwi, but wanting is one thing and getting is another. An improvement in global risk sentiment on the day, driven by a calming of the tinderbox situation in Hong Kong, is likely to help the New Zealand tender; expect the Kiwi to trade with a NEUTRAL TO POSITIVE bias in the near-term.

The GBP NZD exchange rate stands at 2.0547.
