Today’s session brings a heavy schedule of data which FX insiders forecast will provoke major price action for the major global currency pairs. Our leading currency analysts takes a look at the major publications likely to provoke movement below …

Pound Sterling Conversion Rate Could Recoup Losses if UK Employment Meets Predictions

The Pound Sterling (currency : GBP) gets an early opportunity to redeem itself against the rest of the sixteen most actively traded global currencies following its dire performance yesterday. The latest UK employment numbers, out at 0930hrs BST, are expected to reveal that the overall level of British joblessness remained static at 5.5% during the three months to the end of August. However, with the consensus opinion amongst analysts is that the rolling quarterly job creation numbers, also set for publication, will show that a healthy 140,000 new positions were generated in the domestic economy, the Pound may be set to capitalise.

US Dollar Forecast Now: USD Exchange Rate Forecast to Respond to US Sales Data Today

The next key data release of note on the day comes at 1330hrs BST in the form of last month’s US Advance Retail Sales figures. Again, a ‘no change’ result is anticipated, with a repeat of August’s result of 0.2% considered the most likely outcome. The US Dollar (currency : USD) has struggled against the other major currencies since last Thursday’s suggestion from the Federal Reserve that American interest rates may remain at their current ultra-low level for a while longer. An outcome of above the expected level for the shop sales number could reverse these losses, potentially sending the GBP USD exchange rate back down towards the 1.5000 level.

Federal Reserve Beige Book to Impact USD Exchange Rate Trading

Investors will get another steer on the state of the real economy in America at 1900hrs BST tonight with the publication of the latest edition of the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book. FX insiders will be eyeballing the release for any downgrades to the Fed’s domestic GDP forecasts in the medium to long term, with such an outcome expected to cause futures markets to price-in a lower percentage chance of a US rate hike this year.
